Sara Amin
Elementary Curriculum Coordinator & 6th Grade ELA Teacher
Salaam Alaikum!
My name is Sara Amin, and I’m originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, but I’ve called Charlotte, North Carolina, home since the age of five. I’m proudly Egyptian, married, and blessed to be the mother of two wonderful boys. I am also a proud alumni of Charlotte Islamic Academy, having attended from its opening until my graduation in 2008. I went on to earn a double major in English and Middle Grades Education, with concentrations in English and Social Studies, from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Alhamdulillah, I bring 10 years of teaching experience to the table. This year, I’m excited to embark on a new journey in curriculum and instruction, hoping to make a broader impact beyond the classroom. I’ll also be teaching ELA to the rising sixth-grade class- my former second-grade students! One of my favorite quotes that reflects my teaching philosophy is:
“Teaching kids to count is fine, but teaching them what counts is best.” – Bob Talbert
Working in an Islamic school means we’re not just teaching — we’re raising young Muslim thinkers, entrepreneurs, and leaders. Outside of school, you’ll often find me enjoying a good book, spending quality time with my family, or taking a relaxing stroll around the city. I am passionate about education, thinking outside the box, bringing creativity into every assignment, and—most importantly—spreading smiles!
